Obituary

Bart Ray Orr

April 12, 1957 - Dec. 11, 2016

SOUTH BEND - Bart Ray Orr, 59, of South Bend, IN, gained his wings on Sunday, December 11, 2016, following a courageous battle with ALS. Bart was born on April 12, 1957, in South Bend, IN, to Wayne and Sally (Ikert) Orr. Bart graduated from Riley High School in 1976. He married his high school sweetheart, Ann Loutzenhiser, on June 3, 1978, at St. Jude's Church in South Bend, IN.

Bart was employed at B&B Molders as a Mold Designer. Previous to his employment at B&B, he worked at Michiana Global Mold (previously Michiana Plastics). Bart had many coworkers who were more like a work family. He enjoyed having pizza parties, entertaining coworkers, and enjoyed the cartoon drawings his friends created of the work environment and all the people that supported and embraced his ALS and were a constant support system.

Bart's sense of humor was present in everything he did. His smile was infectious along with the twinkle in his eyes when he was joking or poking fun at someone. He was known to make a nickname for all of his friends and family that will leave a lasting impression. His playful nature was evident when he was at their cottage on Long Lake in Three Rivers, Michigan, where he would splash and play in the water with his granddaughters and family. He was extremely proud of the accomplishments and compassion that his granddaughters and daughter possessed. He truly loved “his girls.”

Bart loved biking, walking, and enjoyed flying. He had a pilot license for many years.

Bart is survived in death by his loving wife, Ann Loutzenhiser; daughter, Marcy (Salvatore) Parisi; and granddaughters, Bailey Parisi, Victoria Orr and Emma Orr; parents, Wayne and Sally (Ikert) Orr; and sister, Nannette (Donald) Poor of Callahan, FL. Bart is also survived by Ann's family, Curt (Jean) Loutzenhiser, Dave (Jackie) Loutzenhiser, Timothy (Esther) Loutzenhiser, Donald (Shawn) Loutzenhiser, Sandra (Byron) Daniels, Karl (Quala) Loutzenhiser, Josef (Andrea) Loutzenhiser and Bonnie (Kurt) Orr; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Orr; brother, Kurt Orr; father-in-law, Richard Loutzenhiser; and mother-in-law, Cecile Loutzenhiser.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, at 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, IN. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m -12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date in a private ceremony with immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ALS Association - Indiana Chapter, 6525 E. 82nd Street, Suite 114, Indianapolis, IN 46250; or to a charity of the donor's choice . Online condolences may be left for the Orr family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
