William R. Hobgood, 74, of Osceola, IN passed away at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN.   He was  born on November 8, 1938 in Hanson, KY to Basil and Wahneta (McElvain) Hobgood.  On June 18, 1960 in South Bend, IN he married the former Sylvia S. Salay.

Mr. Hobgood is survived by his wife, Sylvia S. Hobgood; three daughters, Jill Hobgood, Karin Hobgood and Heidi (Lynn) Long, all of Mishawaka, IN and three grandchildren, Aaron, Hayley and Matthew Long. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patricia Zeiler and Anita L. Hobgood.

Mr. Hobgood worked as an engineer, executive and in sales at several area plastic manufacturing companies. He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers and was formerly active in the Knights of Columbus. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544.  Graveside services and burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Bend.   The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN 46614 and one hour prior in church on Monday.
