Robert Gibson Koch

Feb. 23, 1939 – June 24, 1998

Robert G. “Bob” Koch, 59, of Shawnee, Kan., died at home on June 24, of an undetermined cause.

Born in South Bend, Ind., Bob was a graduate of Notre Dame University, with a degree in Chemistry and completed his Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at UMKC. He was employed by Bayer Corporation and a resident of the KC metro area for 34 years.

Bob was well known in the community for his generosity, compassion and love for science and tools.

He leaves behind his wife, Jo Ann of 32 years; his daughter, Melissa Koch of Waveland, Miss.; his son, Ken Koch of Asheville, N.C.; his brother, Jerry Koch of South Bend, Ind.; his sister, Connie Vandenburg of Mishawaka, Ind.; and many other beloved family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Pat King of South Bend, in 1988.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 29, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. An open eulogy service will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Bob’s wishes were to be cremated. The family suggests  donations be made to the American Red Cross or Christmas in October. Arrangements by Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.
