Riley 1956 Dr Roger J Manges

April 1, 1938 - Sept. 7, 2017

SOUTH BEND - In memorial of Dr. Roger J. Manges who passed on September 7, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones: brother, Marc Manges, and his wife, Kitty Jo Manges, daughter, Melinda Manges Iosua, grandson, Cory Iosua, and significant other, Connie Beckwith.

Roger grew up in South Bend, Indiana, attending Riley High School. He later attended Purdue University, receiving a Ph.D. in Psychology. He held various positions with academic distinction including Dean and Director of Indiana University/Purdue University Fort Wayne, Indiana. President of Onondaga Community College, Syracuse, New York, and Vice President of Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana.

He later moved to Bloomington, Indiana, when his daughter started college at IU and founded his practice, Life Skills Counseling and Psychology. Roger was not one to retire and in his later years enjoyed being part of the Indiana University golf course from an operational standpoint, but really enjoyed the free golf!

Although his professional accomplishments are extensive, he would want to be remembered for the care and love he provided for his family. Not only did he mold and shape the life of his daughter Melinda but also that of his grandson Cory by being present and involved over and above expectations. He provided a life for his significant other Connie filled with care and companionship.

It goes without saying the time spent with his family meant the most to Roger; in the early years those times spent with his mother, Mary Beth Manges, father, Ward Manges, and brother Marc at Lake Wawasee, held stories filled with happy memories.

As we say see you soon to Roger, we revel in the life that he had and not the sadness that we feel.

Celebration of Life will take place on September 13, 2017, at 11:30 am, 1350 45/46 Bypass, behind IU Foundation Building, Cecil W. Weathers Golf Team Center, Bloomington, IN.
