Marilyn Faye (Moore) DeSimone
June 5, 1938 ~ September 23, 2014 (age 76)
Marilyn F. DeSimone, 76, of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 23, 2014, in Hospice House, South Bend.
Marilyn was born June 5, 1938 in South Bend, a daughter of the late Ernest and Anna Jane (Self) Moore. She grew up in South Bend and graduated from Riley High School in 1956.
On April 18, 1959 in St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, Marilyn married Joseph P. DeSimone. Following marriage they lived in South Bend and moved to Mishawaka in 1971.
Marilyn was a homemaker. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Marilyn’s family was the center of her life. She was especially fond of her grandchildren.
Marilyn’s surviving family includes her husband of 55 years, Joe; a son, Gregory DeSimone (Ron Shirley) of Aurora, Illinois; a daughter, Michele Ball (Dominic) of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Anthony and Alexis Ball; two sisters, Joyce Michael (Neil) of South Bend and Kathleen Yates of South Bend; a brother, Larry Moore (Suzanne) of Minnesota; brothers-in-law, Bob Oler of California, Sam DeSimone (Mona) of Elkhart and John DeSimone (Diane) of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Lonstrom and Janet Oler.
The DeSimone family would like to thank the wonderful 4th Floor Nurses and Staff at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center as well as those at Hospice House for their great compassionate care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, September 26, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka, with Rev. John Eze officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
Friends may spend time with Marilyn’s family from 3 - 7 pm on Thursday in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 pm.
Memorials are suggested to Center for Hospice Care. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
