Robert Eugene Hoffman

July 4, 1939     -     February 11, 2014

Robert E. Hoffman, age 74 of Lake, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at West Branch Regional Medical Center in West Branch. Robert was born the son of Robert Wayne and Mildred (Murray) Hoffman on July 4, 1939 in Logansport, Indiana. He ws united in marriage to Judith "Judy" Bellows on November 7, 1964.  Robert had proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1958 to 1962. He had worked in the Emissions Lab at the General Motors proving grounds in Milford. Following his retirement he and Judy had moved to the Lake of the Pines community in Lake where they have lived for the past 20 years. Robert enjoyed fishing and wintering in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Clare and the Clare Farwell American Legion Post 558. He will be remembered by his family as being a wonderful husband and father and a huge Notre Dame Fan.

Robert is survived by his wife Judy; children Cheryl (Patrick) Hatfield of Howell, Vickie (Mathew) Legros of Hartland, Eric of Durand, Aaron of Lake and April Hoffman of Durand; his sister Diane (Robert "Butch") Miller of South Bend, Indiana; grandchildren Robert Hatfield, Brittney Hatfield, Steven Hatfield, Ericia Hoffman, Christina Legros and Josie Legros; as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his parents and his brother Michael.

Services will take place on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Rev. Prentice A Tipton, Jr. officiating. Burial will be held in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Visitation will be held at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-8 P.M. with a Rosary at 4 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 6:30 P.M.
