Emily Hollister, 18, of Springbrook Drive, South Bend, Ind., was one of six college students killed in an accident early Sunday morning, Oct. 10, in College Station, Texas.

Emily was born on June 27, 1981, in South Bend, to Jim and Lou (Dawson) Hollister.

She is survived by her parents, Jim and Lou Hollister of South Bend; her brother, Eric Hollister, a senior at Florida State, Tallahassee, Fla.; and her paternal grandparents, Jacque and Marian Hollister of South Bend; her aunts and uncles, David Dawson of Orlando, Fla., Ann Levan of Quinlan, Texas, Glen and Phyllis Dawson of Lucas, Ohio, Bob and Loretta Biglin of Shelby, Ohio, Phillip and Pattie Dawson of Sullivan, Ohio, Delbert and Doris Dawson of Mansfield, Ohio, Terry and Roberta Thompson of Sheridan, Ind., Craig and Carol Rothe of The Woodlands, Texas, Steve and Debbie Broshar of Carmel, Ind.; and by her cousins, Debbie, Tonia, David, Jr., Ben, Glen, Jr., Dereck, Michelle, Lance, Rob, Charles, Jodi, Courtney, Callie, Jonathan, Lee and Carson.

Emily graduated from Riley High School with the Class of 1999. During her senior year she was the captain of Riley's softball team. She won sportsmanship and Kiwanis awards in her final season of softball, and was also a member of the National Honor Society for two years. Emily was listed in Who's Who in High School for three years. In 1998 she attended a National Youth Leadership Forum on medicine in Texas. She was enrolled at Baylor University on a pre-medical curriculum.

Services for Emily Hollister will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Officiating will be Pastor Bill Beyer. Entombment will take place in Riverview Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made for a Scholarship Fund at 1st Source Bank, 100 N. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601, attention: Mary Sonneborn.

Emily leaves behind many loving and devoted friends that she cherished and loved deeply. She loved life and shared that with everyone she knew and met. She will be missed beyond words by everyone.
