John William "Bill" Hoke

SOUTH BEND - John William "Bill" Hoke, 74, of Austin, TX, died on Sept. 5, 2010, peacefully in his home. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, on March 15, 1936, to Lynn and Wilma Hoke, the youngest of five children. After serving in the Army as a specialist 3rd class, he graduated from IU Bloomington. From there he landed in South Bend where he met and married his wife, Kathie.

He loved golfing, rooting for Notre Dame, and pink frosted cookies.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathie Hoke; daughters, Stephanie (Robert) Catanach of Aliso Viejo, CA, Kris (Jeff) Becke of Dallas, TX, Mari Hoke of San Francisco, CA, Monica (Mike) Crabtree of South Bend, IN, Erika (Mike) Wilton of South Bend, IN, and Gianna (John) Fischer of South Bend, IN; a son, John Hoke; and his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian and Louise, and one brother, Bud. Memorial services are being planned by the family for a future date in South Bend.
