Phyllis J. (Chidister) Forbes
April 20, 1929 ~ April 2, 2023 93 Years Old
Phyllis J. Forbes, 93 years old, passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis was born on April 20, 1929 in South Bend to the late Paul and Josephine Chidister. She has remained a lifelong resident. Phyllis worked at Associates for 24 years. She also worked as a lighting consultant for 19 years for McCaffery Lighting where she retired at the age of 80. Phyllis was a lifelong member of Faith United Methodist Church. She was an avid Notre Dame fan and Phyllis loved to dance.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Kelly J. Forbes of South Bend; step-sons, Brian Forbes of Surprise, AZ and William (Cathy) Forbes of Peoria, AZ; and her sister-in-law, Yvonne (Robert) Makowski of Merritt Island, FL. Phyllis is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews who loved her very much.
A service celebrating the life of Phyllis will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Pastor Keith McFarren will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
