South Bend – Phyllis L Kolecki, age 91, died on September 22, 2021. She was born October 22, 1929 in South bend to Stella (Guzowski) and Stanley Rymarz. They preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Geraldine Switalski and Lillian Trytko, brother-in-laws, Robert Switalski and John Trytko, a brother, Harry Rymarz, and sister-in-law, Shirley Rymarz.
On November 5, 1949, she married Richard L. M. Kolecki. He died April 12, 1993
Survivors are sons, Richard (Laura) Kolecki of Colorado, Robert (LaDonna) Kolecki of Michigan, John (Lori) Kolecki of South Bend, David (Carol) Kolecki of South Bend and daughter Carolyn Kolecki of South Bend; grandchildren Richard (Kristy) Kolecki, Matthew (Veronica) Kolecki, Molly Kolecki, Lauren (Randy) Knapik, and Jessica Kolecki-Mills (Cori); great-grandchildren Thomas Kolecki, Kayla Kolecki, Eve Kolecki, and Lily Jean Kolecki; Emerie Chimutu, Owen Chimutu, and Ruth Knapik. Also surviving sister, Jeanette (Carl) Wallace and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis graduated from J W Riley High School. She was employed with B.A.R.E Insurance Co. at Studebakers (June 1947-September 1953). After raising their five children, she returned to work in the catalog department at J C Penney, downtown (November 1977-December 1983). In 1985, she was employed by Meldisco Corp. at the Western Ave K-Mart Store (until June 2002).
Phyllis was active in Maurice Matthys Little League Ball Park (1967-1978) as well as an auditor at her church for many years, St Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church.
A public visitation will begin at 10:00am with a mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00am, Monday, September 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s Parish NCC. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
