Mary Jane (Rhinehart) Sloboda

MISHAWAKA - Mary Jane Sloboda, 90, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Christmas Day, in the Milton Home. She was born in South Bend on August 4, 1922 to Claude and Mary (Storm) Rhinehart.
Mary Jane lived in South Bend until 1983 when she moved to Mishawaka. On July 2, 1949 she married Stephen Nemes; he passed away in 1957. On March 21, 1959 she married John Sloboda; he died in 1993. Her sister also preceded her in death in 1972.
Surviving is a niece, Vivian Bodle of Mishawaka; a stepson, William (Marion) Sloboda of South Bend and his family; a granddaughter, Sherry Sloboda and great-grandson, Brison Martin.
She was a graduate of Riley High School in 1941 and the South Bend College of Commerce. She was a member of the Riley Lunch Bunch and was on the committees for the Riley Alumni Reunions. She was a past member of the St. Joseph Medical Auxiliary. She also belonged to the Euchre Clubs at Battell Center and at Howard Park.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm TODAY (Friday) at the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Dr. at Jefferson, with the funeral service at 1 pm in the funeral home. Private burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
