MISHAWAKA - William D. Crane Sr., age 75, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017. William was born on May 14, 1942, in Peru, Indiana, to the late Robert and Harriett (Shielder) Crane. On August 18, 1958, William married the love of his life, Carole Jane (Springman) Crane, in Mishawaka.

William is survived by daughters, DeeAnn (Don) Weber of Mishawaka, Cynthia (Paulo) Radomille of South Bend, and Sheryl Ann (Christian) Hoskins of Mishawaka; his son, William Crane Jr. of Mishawaka; stepdaughter, LeeAnn (Dave) Miller of CA; stepson, Howard (Melisa) Papineau of Osceola; eighteen grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; his brother, Bob Crane; and his companion of several years, Mary Barnaby. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Crane; sisters, Joyce Larson and Pat Burns; his brother, Jack Crane; and his second wife, Rebecca Crane.

William attended Riley High School in South Bend, IN. He went on to become a machinist for Dodge Manufacturing, where he retired after many years. He later worked at the Mishawaka F.O.P. part-time.

William was very proud of his family and will always be his children's first hero. He loved hunting and fishing, boating at the lake, and mushroom hunting. William raised horses and enjoyed watching his children show them. He was an avid Cubs, Bears, IU basketball and Irish fan. William liked to play Black Jack and sit outside in his yard and listen to his favorite oldies CDs on repeat. He never knew a stranger and those who got to know him loved him.

Funeral services for William Crane Sr. will take place at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call on the family for one hour prior to the services and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery following the service.
