SOUTH BEND - Charles E. “Eddie” Lingenfelter, 54, residing in South Bend, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 12, 1963, in South Bend, IN.

Eddie married Gail Zillmer, who survives. He is also survived by his son, Andrew Lingenfelter; stepson, Justin Zillmer; mother, Mary Ellen Douglas; sister, Mary Kay (Mark) Klempay; brother, Richard (Tammy) Lingenfelter; stepbrother, Terry (Teresa) Douglas; cousin and close friend, John J. Douglas; and his in-laws, Bill and Lois Zillmer; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Eddie was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Douglas.

Eddie was a graduate of Riley High School, South Bend. He retired as a security guard and enjoyed working on cars and small engines. Eddie loved to fish with his brother and son. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame football. To those who knew Eddie well, he will fondly be remembered as “Big Ed”.

The family of Charles “Eddie” Lingenfelter would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Troyer, Dr. Bufill and the nurses, and staff on the 10th floor of Memorial Hospital for all the care they provided.

A visitation with the family of Eddie will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Palmer Funeral Home - River Pak Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.
