William F. "Bill" Meilner

William F. "Bill" Meilner of Grand Junction died of natural causes Wednesday at his home. He was 66. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Norman B. Barnette Jr. officiating. Mr. Meilner had lived in Grand Junction for three years. He was born Nov. 25, 1925, to Roy F. and Grace Harriet Meilner in South Bend, Ind., where he spent his childhood and graduated from high school. He attended Woodbury College in California.
Mr. Meilner was active in the Emmaus Lutheran Church at South Bend. After moving to Grand Junction, Mr. Meilner be-came a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army with the First Cavalry in the Philip pines and Japan during World War II. Mr. Meilner was a technical writer for Bendix Corp. for 47 years and belonged to the company's management club.
He married Elaine Landis on Jan. 16. 1991, in Grand Junction. She survives. He previously was married to JoAnn Carter. She died in 1980. Other survivors include three brothers, Roy J. Meilner of South Bend, William A. Meilner of Pensacola, Fla., and David J. Meilner of LaFayette; his stepmother, Elizabeth Meilner of LaFayette; two sons and a daughter-in-law, the Rev. William C. and Janet Meilner of Chadron, Neb., and Dr. Timothy L. Meilner of Grand Junction; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Greg L. and Andrea Carter of Kona, Hawaii; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathleen and Ned Pollert of Grand Junction; a step-daughter, Kay D. Carter of Reno, Nev.; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince of Peace Luth-eran Church, 2510 1-70 Frontage Road, Grand Junction 81505. Callahan-Edfast Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
