John G. Toth

John G. Toth, 79, much loved father and grandfather, passed away Wednesday afternoon in Saint Joseph Medical Center. John was born on April 27, 1924, in South Bend, Ind., to John and Margaret (Abraham) Toth. He retired from National Mill Supply and was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral. On Sept. 6, 1947, in South Bend, he married Doris Mae Burkus, who passed away on Feb. 12, 1976. John was also preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Sister M. Loretta. F.D.C.
He is survived by a daughter, Celeste M. Anthony of Berrien Center, Mich.; two sons, John A. Toth of Fort Myers, Fla., and Mark B. (Ann) Toth of Libertyville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Joshua Anthony, Christopher Toth and Meghan Toth; and by three brothers, Peter Toth, Emil Toth and Joseph Toth, all of South Bend.
He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran, and an Army Reservist for 25 years. He was a member of the Optimist Club, the Lyons Club, and was very instrumental in the beginning of the Youth American Bowling Association in the South Bend area. He also attended the annual reunion of the 99th Bomb Group of which he was a member.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Ave., where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lyon's Club.
