Riley 1943 Virginia P (Wilk) Mouros

July 7, 1925 - Nov. 29, 2017

SOUTH BEND - Virginia P. Mouros, 92, of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, November 29th in her home with her family by her side. Virginia was born July 7, 1925 in South Bend to the late Sophie (Kohan) and Frank Wilk and was a lifetime area resident. In 1948, as Virginia Wilk she married Chris Mouros, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Linda Mouros, Chris Mouros (Laura) and Paul Mouros all of South Bend and Theodore Mouros of Berwyn, IL, and her granddaughter, Athena Mouros of Oak Park, IL.

Virginia grew up in a loving, caring, nurturing family of the depression. She adored her sisters and many brothers all of whom were employed by Studebaker. Virginia also worked at Studebaker and was proud to tell people she worked on the “Weasel” during WWII. Virginia saw the good and bad growing up but always remained positive and was the glue that kept our family together. Someone once said, “I lived my life my way.” Mom truly lived her life this way, be it raising four children or being there for anyone. Virginia was not afraid of anything and died on her own terms. Mom was the quintessential best mother. She was passionate about environmental issues, animals, eating Happy Meals at McDonalds and especially her family, and was so proud of her granddaughter, Sophie Mouros. Virginia instilled love in everyone she met and cultivated many friendships along the way. She did not have a jealous bone in her body and was not envious of anyone! She loved to cook, bake, knit, sew, and was an avid quilter. She loved to watch Jeopardy, and was especially phenomenal playing Wheel of Fortune. In her spare time, she was very adept at playing the stock market. We once asked mom how she got her middle name of Pearl. She said that when her mother gave birth to her, she reminded her of a pearl. The best thing about our gem of a mother was that she never stopped being a mother. She earned her “wings” so to speak until her final day and our entire family wishes her a safe trip to heaven to be with her many family members and friends. Virginia went to eternal rest, at peace with herself, on her couch in her cherished home. Lastly mom, we all loved you so much with all our hearts and know that we will never forget you and your beautiful spirit/memory will last forever. Cremation has taken place and per Virginia's wishes there will be no visitation or service. Please share your heart and donate to Virgina's favorite charities, the Arthritis Foundation and the Humane Society of St. Joseph County.
