Katherine Louise (Lehman) Knepp
February 1930, ~ November 19, 2022
Knepp, Katherine Louise, born in South Bend, Indiana in February 1930, age 92, passed away at her residence at Arbor Springs in Opelika, Alabama on November 19, 2022. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University in 1952. In June 1953 she married the love of her life, Loren Jay Knepp. Katie was awarded her Master of Arts by The University of Michigan in 1964.
Mrs. Knepp moved from Birmingham, AL to StillWaters in Dadeville, AL in 1990 with her husband. She was a very active person, who competed and won often. She was an avid tennis player, snow skier, golfer and loved her bridge groups. She was a member of SW Ladies Golf Association, member of the StillWaters Yacht Club, active for years in the SWVF&R Auxiliary and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn, Alabama. Katie loved life and always had a kind word often repeating her husband’s favorite saying, “Count your blessings”!
Mrs. Knepp is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Lehman of Auburn, AL; Cousins Rosemary (Theodore) Beise, George (Katie) Veth of Arlington Heights, IL; Elizabeth Voight of Mt. Prospect, IL; Tim Lehman of South Bend, IN; Linda Wilson of Oceanside, CA; Ellen Drake in Berlin Heights, OH; Karin Mittendorfer in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, as well asmany nephews and nieces and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Mrs. Knepp is predeceased by her parents Ludwig Lehman and Katharina Zwickl Lehman, husband Loren Jay Knepp and the Knepp infant twins.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Living Waters in StillWaters in Dadeville, AL. with Reverend John Mann officiating with a gathering to celebrate Katie’s life following at the StillWaters Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to the charity of your choice. Alabama Funeral Homes and Cremation Centers are in charge of the arrangements.
