Alma Cecilia Bravo

Alma Cecilia Bravo

Nov. 13, 1989 - June 25, 2018

SOUTH BEND - “Blessed be the Pure of Heart for They Shall See God” Matthew 5:8

Alma Cecilia Bravo, the purest of heart, ended her long battle with cancer surrounded by her beloved parents Rafaela and Nicolas. Extended family and friends kept vigil with her parents in her last days. Alma, born in Los Angeles was the only child of the union of Rafaela and Nicholas., Educated in South Bend Schools, Alma was an honors graduate of Riley High School. She graduated from Saint Mary's College with a degree in social work and obtained a Masters in Social Work from Indiana University South Bend. While at Saint Mary's she was recognized for her extensive volunteerism which included service to Saint Adalbert/Saint Casimir's Parish as a catechist in the Religious Education Program.

Employed by the Epworth Hospital at Beacon, Alma loved her work and was grateful to “Mr. Juan” Flores for assisting in obtaining the position for her. She was a committed employee celebrated by her fellow employees. Always willing to go to go the extra mile, she was grateful to all at Epworth for their support, care and understanding during her illness.

Everyone who met Alma and knew her through the years were impressed by her goodness, her positive attitude, her love for her parents and her faith. Even after surgery and treatments, Alma continued her journey mindfully caring for her parents and friends. A proud Mexican American woman of deep faith, she never doubted God's love for her even in the bleakest of times. She was a beautiful person, full of goodness, potential, love, and kindness, all cut short when the world seems so much in need of such people.

Those who know Alma will continue to be inspired by her example and honor her by trying to add goodness and compassion to our world as she certainly would have continued to do.

Mr. & Mrs. Bravo wish to thank the Hospice Caregivers, Mrs. Josefina Navarrete for her service of prayer and Irma Robles Alma's cousin who ceaselessly cared for Alma in her illness.
