SOUTH BEND, IN - Nancy Jewell Elliott Day, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, October 9, 2018. She was 85 years old. She was born July 27, 1933 in South Bend, a daughter of the late Fred & Jewell (McKinney) Noble, and was a graduate of Riley High School. On May 25, 1952 in South Bend, she was united in marriage to Robert D. Elliott. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1983. Then on December 28, 1985 she married John M. “Joe” Day who passed away on April 29, 2012.

Nancy was a charter member of Community Baptist Church in South Bend, where she was also employed as a Secretary for many years. She also sang in the choir, and played the accordian. She was a gifted seamstress, and enjoyed embroidery and decorating with quilts. Over the years, she enjoyed going camping with her family and friends. She always loved going to the lake, especially at their lake home at Eagle Lake in Edwardsburg. She and Joe also enjoyed spending their winters in Haines City, Florida.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Don) Whitfield of Mattawan, MI; three sons, Greg (Paula) Elliott of South Bend, IN, Gary Elliott of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Kevin (Sandy) Elliott of South Bend, IN. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Nancy is also survived by two half-brothers, Tommy & Donald Zentz.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, at Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami St., South Bend. Rev. Joe Fant, pastor, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at church.
