Dave graduated from Lakeville High School in 1961. In 1960 Dave helped to lead the Lakeville basketball team in winning the Saint Joseph County Championship. His high school lettered basketball jacket has been on display at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle, IN
