Ruth R. Diamond

Feb. 19, 1917 — March 30, 2004 

Ruth R. Diamond, 87, of Hilltop Drive, passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, of natural causes.  Ruth was born in South Bend, Ind., to the late Arthur M. Diamond and Mary (Keitzer) Diamond on Feb. 19, 1917, and had lived in South Bend her entire life. 

Survivors include two sisters, Alice Eberhart and Gladys (Carl) Wilson, both of South Bend. A brother, Arthur M. Diamond, died April 15, 2000.  Also surviving are three nephews and their families, Arthur M. Diamond Jr. and his wife, Jeanette, and their daughter, Jennifer, all of Omaha, Neb., David A. Diamond and his wife, Carolyn, of Luxembourg City, Luxembourg and Columbus, Ohio, and their sons, Michael and Daniel of Columbus, and Eric _Lenon Diamond and his wife, Cynthia, and their daughters, Abigail and Amelia of South Bend. 

Ruth graduated from Riley High School and took additional courses at Naperville, Il.

She was a volunteer instructor helping local Sunday school teachers develop skills. Ruth retired from Walnut Grove Mutual Housing Corporation as head bookkeeper in 1979 after 32 years of service.  ‘Among her hobbies, Ruth was an avid reader. During her retirement she researched and created a photographic journal of the genealogy of both sides of her family.  Ruth was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Friends may call in the Hay Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. today, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 3.  Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
