Elizabeth (Hudson) Hanson

SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth Hanson, 90, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, in St. Paul's Retirement Center, South Bend. Mrs. Hanson was born on October 22, 1917, in Detroit, MI, to the late Cass L. and Marina (Moon) Hudson. She had been a lifelong area resident.
On July 6, 1942, in South Bend, she married Hans Hanson, who preceded her in death on July 20, 1977. One sister, Marina "Louise" Winebrenner, and one brother, Robert Hudson, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hanson formerly worked at the St. Joseph County Department of Public Welfare and Bethany Home in Moline, IL. She was also the office manager for Hanson Engineering Company. Mrs. Hanson was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years where she was an elder and deacon. She was also the church librarian and a member of the women's society of the church. Mrs. Hanson was a graduate from the University of Chicago in social service administration.
Mrs. Hanson is survived by one daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Anderson of Bellevue, WA; three sons, Eric (Mary) Hanson of Tuxedo, NY, David (Anita) Hanson of Clinton, IN, and Daniel (Ginny) Hanson of Middlebury, IN; eight grandchildren, Melinda Fischer, Timothy Hanson, Keenan Hanson, Benjamin Hanson, Ryan Hanson, Catherine Heitert, Sarah Bonebrake and Laura Hanson; three great-grandchildren, Abigail Heitert, Dominick Hanson and Emma Heitert; and one brother, Lincoln Hudson of Minneapolis, MN.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27, in the First Presbyterian Church, 333 W. Colfax, South Bend. Rev. Carnes will officiate. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services in the church. A private burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend, is assisting with funeral arrangements.
