Marj Weeks 82, formerly of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Saturday July 24, 2004 at Midland House 3940 E. 56th St. Indianapolis, Indiana 46220. Born Jane Dryden Maloney on February 6, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan, to Louise (Dryden) Bixby and Arthur (Don) Maloney of South Bend,

Marj graduated from Riley High School in South Bend in 1940. She attended Kalamazoo College for one year before the outbreak of WWII. Marj immediately enlisted in the WAVES where she attained the rank of Seaman First Class. While serving, Marj met Elmer P. (Mike) Weeks. They married on July 10, 1943 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Weeks is survived by three children: Katha Burden of Mishawaka, Indiana; Wendy Sue (Horst) Muehlbronner of Indianapolis, Indiana; Craig (Shelby) Weeks of Middlebury, Indiana; one brother, James (Ida Mae) Maloney of Trumbull, Connecticut; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Weeks was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer P. (Mike) Weeks, and a sister, Louise Gene (William) Combs.

While living in Plymouth, Mrs. Weeks was active in The Philanthropic Sorority (PEO), Dorcus Society, Tri-Kappa, The Eastern Star, The Broadway Theatre League, The Plymouth Arts Commission; and The United Way. Mrs. Weeks volunteered at the Plymouth Boys and Girls Club for many years. Mrs. Weeks was a member and a reader at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Plymouth, and later, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Warsaw. Upon moving to Indianapolis, Mrs. Weeks became a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Indianapolis.

Upon the death of her husband, Mike Weeks, in 1990, Mrs. Weeks established an annual scholarship awarded to a Plymouth High School graduate in his memory.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 31st at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth, IN. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midland House 3940 E. 56th St. Indianapolis, Indiana 46220, or a charity of one's choice.
