Wynn Garman, Louise Marie Petoskey, MI (formerly of Ann Arbor,MI)

Age85, died July 5, 2007, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 10 at 2:00p.m. at the Petoskey United Methodist Church with Bishop Emerson Colaw officiating. Louise was born on November 5, 1921, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the daughter of Carl and Evelyn (Richey) Wynn and was raised in Bellefontaine, graduating from James Whitcomb Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana in 1939. She received her BA and MA Degrees from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.

On June 8, 1943, Louise married Richard "Dick" Garman at the Amasa Stone Chapel at Western Reserve University and he survives.

In 1968, Louise went to work for the University of Michigan as a Program Associate with the Institute for Social Research, then the Business School, and finally the Department of Post Graduate Medicine, retiring in 1984. Louise was always a very active volunteer. When her children were young, she was a school room mother and later a leader in the Girl Scouts. She later went on to volunteer with the American Red Cross and served as Chairman of the Alter Guild at the Crouse Chapel in Bay View, where she wrote the Discipline for using the chapel. She enjoyed researching family genealogy, fishing, golf, bridge, and needlework, and she was an avid bird watcher. Louise was a member of the Petoskey United Methodist Church, the PEO and the Bay View Association.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dick; three children, Cynthia (Dan) Garman-Squier, Theodore "Ted" (Brenda) Garman, and Kenneth "Ken" (Jean) Garman; and by five grandchildren, Stuart and Christopher Squier, Hilary Garman, and Alissa and Andrew Garman.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Ruth Evelyn Wynn.

Memorial donations may be made to the Petoskey United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society, Hospice of the Little Traverse Bay, or a charity of your choosing. Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
