Mary Catherine (Fisher) Lawson
October 22, 1941 ~ September 15, 2023 81 Years Old
Mary C. “Mary Kay” Lawson, 81, of South Bend passed away peacefully on Friday September 15, 2023 at Trailpoint Village.
Mary was born to Flossie (McIntire) and Foster Fisher in South Bend on October 22, 1941. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Danny Kepler. Mary was a proud graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School, class of 1960. She then graduated from Ball State University and earned her Master’s Degree from IUSB proudly working as an educator for 26 years teaching social studies back at her former school, Riley High School.
On July 30, 1965, she married LeRoy Lawson, sharing 44 years of marriage before his passing on May 25, 2010.
Mary was a member of the retired teachers of St. Joseph County. She liked working on crossword puzzles, watching the birds, going to sisters’ day with her aunt, and brite way dinners.
Mary spent many hours with her daughter-in-law, Brenda Lawson, who cared for her very well along with her stepson Larry Lawson who helped her take care of her lawn and property.
Mary is survived by Esther Ecker, Jo Ann McIntire, Pat (Marty) Jennings, Janice Wynn, Darell (Mary) McIntire, Sharon (Cat) Vasquez, and many cousins, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, her husband, Eugene (Helen) McIntire, Devond McIntire, Mildred (Wayne) Tom, Warren (Helen) McIntire, and Eldon McIntire.
In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. Interment will take place at a later date at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
