Lorraine F. (Fratcher) Eichstedt

SOUTH BEND - Lorraine F. Eichstedt, 94, of Naples, FL, passed quietly in her home on Friday, April 22, 2011. She was born in Detroit, MI, on January 28, 1917, to Rex L. and Lilian V. (nee Sieders) Fratcher. They moved to South Bend while Lorraine was still a baby.

She graduated from Riley High School, South Bend, in 1934.

Lorraine married Carl E. Eichstedt on January 2, 1937, and they enjoyed 68 very happy years together. She worked for Studebaker Corp. for 32 years and was one of seven final office employees. In 1982 she retired as Executive Assistant to the Administrator at Pawating Hospital (now Lakeland Medical Center) in Niles, MI. Lorraine and Carl moved to Naples Land Yacht Harbor, Naples, FL, in 1986. She served on the Board of Directors for several years, substituted in the office for close to 15 years, and served on many committees. She enjoyed Scrabble, bingo, "girls' night out" and poker three times most weeks, up until her death. Her home was always open to her many friends. They often joined her for cocktail hour.

Lorraine is survived by nieces, Lynn Maroe (Larry) Huntsman of Locust Grove, VA, Pam Maroe (Tom) Rinehart of The Villages, FL, and Adrienne Levack (Jon) Vender of Sun City, CA; nephew, Gerry (Cindy) Levack of Naples, FL; sisters-in-law, Bette Eichstedt and Irma Eichstadt; two nieces and four nephews, all of South Bend.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eichsted; two sisters, Vivienne Maroe and Muriel Levack; and by two brothers-in-law, Robert Eichstedt and Donald Eichstadt.
