Myra H. Flowers, 85, of South Bend, Ind., died on Tuesday, Sept 26, in the Greencroft Center, Goshen, Ind. She is survived by a son, Gregory (Phyllis) of Goshen; daughters, Debbie (Dick) Licini of Granger, Ind., and Jeanne (Gilbert) Zamora of Lakeville, Ind. She has three sisters, Coral Hacker of South Bend, Lois Hedrick of Augusta, Ga.. and Barbara Pate of Covington, La. Myra leaves nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Married to Louis E. Walz in 1937, he died in 1969. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Paul B. Flowers, who died in 1989. Paul and Myra were both faithful members of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. She has been cremated, and her final resting place will be in Southlawn Cemetery next to Paul. Myra was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She loved cooking, knitting, quilting and gardening. She was interested in poetry, music and history. Her silver hair, elegant stature, tart wit, and her love of fine things were her signature.

Born in Stratford, Canada, to Leroy and Minnie Hodgins, they immigrated to South Bend when Myra was 12 years old. She attended Lincoln School and graduated from Riley High School in 1933.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, in St. Michael and All Angel's Episcopal Church, 52370 N. Ironwood Drive. All friends and family are invited to attend, with a luncheon following the service. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Florence Blue of Fort Wayne, who has been her lifelong friend, caregiver and guardian angel. The family requests that any donations be sent to the Greencroft Center, North Unit, 1225 Greencroft Drive, Goshen, IN 46527, for their dedicated and loving care of Myra for the last three years.
