Sean Kenneth O'Hara

March 9, 1972 - Feb. 2, 2021

MISHAWAKA, IN -

On February 2, 2021 Sean Kenneth O'Hara of Mishawaka peacefully left this world surrounded by his loving family.

Sean was born on March 9, 1972 to Christine ‘Libertowski' O'Hara and Chuck O'Hara. Growing up in South Bend, he attended Riley High School, then later Ivy Tech for photography.

Sean became the Director of The Humane Society of South Bend, and thereafter became a Deputy for St. Joseph County.

In 1991, Sean met his best friend and soulmate. Together they had three beautiful children. Even not being together, they remained best friends until the day he passed.

Sean was such a creative and passionate man. He loved nature and cooking. He loved photography. His eye was impeccable. His pictures, so amazing. Music however was his muse. You could always find him dancing and singing. His biggest influence throughout his whole life was Michael Jackson. From just a boy with the Jackson 5 until Michael went on his own, Sean was hooked. He knew every word, every move, every ‘Hee Hee' and would rock it out with pride!

Sean was a very detailed man. His memory was amazing. He remembered everything, all details. Huge on pictures and not ones we just take on the phone. He had to have them printed. He knew every detail of a picture, even down to the emotion of people. Any memory of his was always brought to life. It was as if you were breathing that exact moment in all over again.

Sean was the person who saw the beauty in everyone and everything. He always would ‘stop and smell the roses' if you will. He loved life and he lived it. If he loved you, he made sure you knew it. He always cherished those around him.

Above all, he was the strongest person one could ever meet. A fighter with heart through and through. Sean had many surgeries from which most would not pull through. He did. Every one. He always came out smiling with hope. His positive attitude and will to live held him strong. He dedicated his life to his family. All he wanted was to live to see his grandchildren grow. This was his will and drive in life to fight harder. After waiting 17 years for a kidney transplant, Sean was given one on August 17, 2020. Unfortunately due to Covid, he was not able to celebrate this long-awaited gift.

His kidney was good, his body was tired. He sadly passed away surrounded by those he loved the most.

Sean is preceded in death by his Momma, Christine V. (Libertowski) O'Hara; brother, Allen Decker; best friend, Shelly Rupert; father-in-law, Michael Lancaster; and Aunt Carole Miller.

Those left behind to remember him are his father, Chuck (Dawn) O'Hara; brothers, Shane (Jenny) O'Hara, Charlie O'Hara, and Joshua O'Hara; sisters, Amy (Mike) Toth and Crystal (Juan) Caldera; lifelong best friend and mother of his children, Tina O'Hara; children, Brianna O'Hara, Devin O'Hara, and Gabrielle Jimenez; grandchildren, Skyelyn Christine, Zion De'Sean, Devin Troy Jr., Zayne Michael, and Rylo Taylor; and God sister, Jennifer Miller, along with several nieces and nephews, and many great friends.

Services will be held to honor his life on Saturday, February 27 from 3-8 at F.O.P., St. Rd. 23, South Bend, Indiana.

Sean, an angel on Earth, you've earned your wings. We will miss you greatly. You will never be forgotten. Until we meet again...

“I hope you're dancing in the sky,

and I hope you're singing in the angels choir.

And I hope the angels know what they have.

It must be so nice up in Heaven since you've arrived.”
