Mary Jane (Miller) Keeler
August 11, 1927 ~ October 24, 2021 (age 94)
Mary Jane Keeler, 94, passed away at 10:45 am on Sunday, October 24, 2021, in Creekside Village.
Mary was born on August 11, 1927, in South Bend to the late Elmer Ray and Marie Josie (Rhodes) Miller. Mary was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters, Elmer Miller, Jr., Bob Miller, Omer Miller, Dick Miller, Don Miller, Charles Miller, Helen (Miller) Maxwell, Florence (Miller) Hoke, Virginia (Miller) Byer, and Betty Mae Miller.
Mary is survived by her sons: Donald (Vickie Magnuson) Keeler, and James (Linda) Keeler; grandchildren: Donna (Scott) Chapla, Amanda (Daniel Murphy) Keeler, Justin (Michelle) Keeler, Amy (Neil) Graber; and 8 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Eunice Miller.
Mary went to Studebaker Elementary and Riley High School. She moved to Barbie St. in South Bend in September of 1960. She worked as a waitress at many of the fine dining spots around South Bend and Mishawaka and retired after many years at Morris Inn at Notre Dame. Mary loved her back yard pool, mostly because her grandkids were always there, and it was the party spot for all of her lady friends. She babysat for great grandkids, Max and Molly, after retiring from Morris Inn. She loved to sit on her front porch and watch the birds at her feeders.
The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Real Services, Virginia Heckman, Creekside Village and Heart to Heart Hospice. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Heart to Heart Hospice is requested.
A graveside service open to all of her friends and family will be at 1pm on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Southlawn Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Homes – Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
