Feliks Ladislaus Wiatrowski

Feliks L. Wiatrowski, 94, of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 3, in his home.

Feliks was born on May 13, 1910, in South Bend, to the late Wojciech and Gastancia (Cukierski) Wiatrowski.

On Oct. 16, 1937, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, South Bend, he married Stephanie R. Gudynowski, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Angela (Don) Coar of South Bend; his brother-in-law, Edward Ewald; and by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wiatrowski was a Riley High School chemistry teacher from 1938 to 1981. He was also a registered pharmacist and worked part-time (full-time in the summers) at many local pharmacies. He worked for the St. Joseph County Health Department (Air Pollution Division) also on a part-time basis. Feliks eased into retirement from the South Bend Community School Corporation (from where he retired in June 1981) by working for the local Hebrew Day School for three years. He was a Notre Dame graduate, where he received his bachelor degree of pharmacy in 1933 and a master of arts in education in 1952. He was a parishioner of St. Hedwig Church where he was a member of the St. Joseph Men's Society. He was also a member of the Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley and the St. Joseph County Pharmacy Association.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today in St. Hedwig Church, South Bend, with Rev. Lawrence Calhoun, CSC, officiating, and Rev. Leonard Chrobot concelebrating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
