Ashley M. "Schaefer" Stahl

ELKHART - Ashley Marie "Ash" (Schaefer) Stahl, 25, died at 9:55 a.m. Friday in Elkhart General Hospital after a brief but courageous battle with lymphoma. She was born December 11, 1982, in South Bend, to Eric J and Debra S. (Bybee) Schaefer.

Ashley was a 2001 graduate from Riley High School where she was a four-year member of the Wildcats Color Guard and completed her E.M.S. certification. She received her LPN from Ivy Tech, and was employed in the emergency room at Elkhart General Hospital and with Tri-County E.M.S.

She married Josh M. Stahl on August 20, 2005, in South Bend. Josh was the love of her life. As a certified paramedic and volunteer firefighter, Josh shared in her desire to dedicate her life to helping others in need. Ashley went through life with the desire to help others from her heart and always with a smile on her face. She will be loved and missed and never forgotten by her family, friends and all whose lives she touched.

Survivors include her husband, Josh M. Stahl of Elkhart; parents, Eric J. and Debra S. (Bybee) Schaefer of Lakeville; a sister, Sara N. Schaefer at home in Lakeville; grandparents, John and Shirley Schaefer of Englewood, FL, Charles and Mary Bybee of Niles, Bill and Marie Crull of South Bend; and her father and mother-in-law, Doug and Judy Stahl of Wakarusa.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson blvd., Elkhart, IN, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 30, 2008. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Mishawaka, IN. Memorial gifts may be made to the family. The Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart, is assisting the family with arrangements.
