MISHAWAKA — Peter R. Downs, 77, of 2809 Northwood Drive, died at 2:58 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Downs re-tired in 1979 from Transpo after 47 years of service as assistant manager. He was born May 14, 1915, in Logansport and lived in Mishawaka most of his life.
On Dec. 22, 1934, in South Bend, he married Florance F. Mortimore. She survives with two sons, James L. of Charlotte, N.C., and Michael P. of South Bend; four grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Powers of South Bend.
He was a member of River Park United Methodist Church and River Park Fisherman's Club, both in South Bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Entombment will be in the mausoleum of St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
