Ethel (Hersch) Opperman

Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Ethel Opperman,, of Santa Monica, Calif., formerly of South Bend, who died Tuesday in Los Angeles, after a year's illness. She and her husband were co-owners of Crystal Cleaners in South Bend for many years.

She was born on July 5, 1914, in South Bend, and lived here most of her life until moving to California eight years ago. In 1939, in South Bend, she married Max Opperman, who survives, with a daughter, Mrs. Deana Lamby of California; a son, Sanford of California; three grandchildren: and four brothers, Ben Hersch of Anaheim, Calif., Herman Hersch of South Bend, Harold Hersch of Mexico City, and William Hersch of Porter, IN Services will take place today in Santa Monica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. She was a member of Pioneer Women, B'nai B'rith and a former member of Sinai Synagogue.
