Frances (Linderman) Berebitsky

Dec. 27, 1913 - Oct. 3, 2011

SOUTH BEND - Frances Linderman Berebitsky, the oldest of five children of Sam and Goldie Linderman, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 97, surrounded by many family members. She is survived by: three sisters, Sally Goloubow (the late Mayer) and Pinky Raab (Buddy) of South Bend, and Lucy Gould (the late Ruben) of Indianapolis; ten children: Rabbi Avraham (Naama) and Dr. Jay (Shani) of New York; David (Barbara), Jerry (Tsipi), Michael (Mimi), Donald, and Ted (Razel) of South Bend; Jim (Alice) and Sally of Chicago; and Dr. Robert (Ariella) of Chevy Chase, MD; 53 grandchildren; more than 160 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

One brother, Jacob Linderman, predeceased her.

Frances was born in Poland and moved to South Bend as a young girl, spending most of her life here. She was in the first graduating class of James Whitcomb Riley High School.

In 1936, she married Nathan Lerman of Rock Island, IL, who passed away in 1975. Several years later she married Louis Berebitsky, who passed away in 2000 after twenty years of marriage.

Frances was "Grandma" to a burgeoning family whose love and devotion to her were apparent to all who know the family. Even late into the ninth decade of her life, Frances delighted in each new addition to the family and never tired of holding another new grandchild or great grandchild. Y'hai Zichrah Boruch (may her memory be blessed). The family wishes to publicly thank Frances' caregivers for their years of service, as well as Hospice for its assistance in the last hours of her life.

Services have been held, and she has been buried at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Hebrew Orthodox Congregation, the South Bend Hebrew Day School, or the Center for Hospice Care (South Bend).
