C. Ferne (Wittner) Eddy

MISHAWAKA - C. Ferne Eddy, 96, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 2:35 AM Monday, July 4, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Med Center, Mishawaka. She was born on July 28, 1914, in South Bend, IN, to the late Leo and Lillian (Ebersole) Wittner, and remained a lifelong resident.

She graduated in the class of 1932 from Riley High School.

On April 12, 1933, in South Bend, IN, she married G. Malcolm Eddy. They enjoyed 69 years of marriage. Malcolm preceded her in death on September 15, 2002. Ferne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being a homemaker, working in her flower gardens and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Eddy is survived by one daughter, Norma Mae (Jerry W.) Sterchi of Fishers, IN; three sons, Robert Truman (Roseann) Eddy and Gordon Richard (Judy) Eddy, both of South Bend, and Larry Wayne (Karen) Eddy of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Jean Detzler of Indianapolis. Two grandchildren and one sister,

Violet Weaver, preceded her in death.

Memorial services for Ferne will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 7, 2011, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Pastor Jerry Sterchi will officiate. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
