Charlotte Lilia (Steele) Mikel

May 15, 1917 - July 26, 2010

SOUTH BEND - Char-lotte Lilia Steele Mikel, 93, died July 26th following a very brief illness.

Charlotte spent the first 86 years of her life in the South Bend area. In 1938 she met and married Garold Mikel. She worked for the South Bend School Corporation for over 20 years at Riley High School, Jackson High School, and as the secretary to the superintendent of schools. She was an active member of Emmaus Lutheran Church until moving to Mission Viejo, California, in 2003.

Charlotte is survived by three children, Carol Granat, Linda Kubala (Gerhard) and Don Mikel (Caron); six grandchildren, Michael Granat (Linda), Suzi Rodgers (Jim), Kilian Kubala (Kristanne Harden), Edna Kubala (Jeremy Mott), Ben Mikel and Alicia Cash (Jerrod); and five great-grandchildren, Blake Rodgers, Anna Rodgers, Brandon Rodgers, Patrick Kubala and Benjamin Kubala.

Interment will be August 13th at 10 a.m. at West Lawn Cemetery, North Liberty, IN. A memorial service will follow at Emmaus Lutheran Church, corner of Milton and Dale Streets, South Bend, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lutheran Braille Workers WC-135, P.O.
