Ethel J. (Jankovits) Koczan

May 10, 1917 — March 4, 2003

Ethel J. Koczan, 85, of Fairington Circle, formerly of Erskine Blvd., went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 4, in her residence. Ethel was an administrative secretary for the former American National Bank. She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, its Rosary Society, N.A.I.M., and the Ladies of Columbus Council 553.

She was born on May 10, 1917, in South Bend, Ind., to Joseph and Ethel Jankovits. On Oct. 14, 1950, in South Bend, as Ethel Jankovlts, she married Dr. John J. Koczan, who died on Nov. 17, 1977. Ethel was also preceded In death by her parents; a stepfather, Joseph lvankovits; a sister, Mary Samys; and by two brothers, Joseph Jankovits and John Jankovits. 

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara A. (Randy) Redman of Mishawaka, Ind.; two sons, John D. (Madeline) Koczan of California and Gregory S. (Leslie) Koczan of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Brian) Flory, Laura Koczan, Brian Koczan, Erin Koczan, Ashley Redman and Sara Redman; and three sisters, Irene Borsody, Lisa Brodie and Kathryn Jaskowiak, all of South Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the St. Matthew Cathedral Improvement Fund.
