Richard E. Cionek June 28, 1936 - April 16, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Richard E. Cionek, 77, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Signature Health Care. Richard was born June 28, 1936, in Jackson, MI, to the late Leo and Rose (Kwiatkowski) Cionek.
On April 27, 1957, Richard married his loving wife Donna (Kryszczuk) Cionek; she survives along with their children, Theresa (Randy) Ciesiolka of South Bend, Damian (Tonya) Cionek of Elkhart; grandchildren, Joshua Ciesiolka and Kim (Rick) Stephens; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn and Blake Ciesiolka; sisters, Therese (Joe) Sipocz, Tina (Jim) Vida; brother-in-law, Ziggie (Janis) Kryszczuk; sister-in-law, Chris (Larry) Cole; and nieces and nephews.
Richard attended Riley High School.
He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Richard was employed with the Mastic Corporation and he retired in 2005 from Honeywell after many years of service. He ushered at Notre Dame Football Stadium for 30 years, and in that time he met people from all over the world which was very rewarding to him. Horseshoes was his passion. Richard enjoyed working out at the gym and socializing with the guys, bowling, stock car races, Notre Dame women's basketball, and country music. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Donna, especially to Hawaii and Branson, MO. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, and most of all he adored his great-granddaughter, Brooklynn.
Visitation for Richard will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 21, 2014, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Ceremony will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in the Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers & Dementia Services, 922 E. Colfax, South Bend, IN 46617; and Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614.
