ROCHESTER - James G "Jim". Davis 80, 1025 Madison Street, Rochester, IN, passed away at 4 p.m. Tuesday 15, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on March 16, 1930 in South Bend, IN, the son of James Albert and Mary Davis. Jim grew up in South Bend while spending his early summer years with his relatives in the Tiosa (Fulton County) area.

He graduated from South Bend Riley High School and served his country in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana, serving with the 307th Squadron in South Korea and Taiwan. After his military service, Jim attended and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in 1956.

He was married for twenty five years to Delores "Dee" McCrory. Together they raised four children, David Davis, Yorba Linda, CA, Steven Davis, Granada Hills, CA, Susan and husband Rick Grounds, Mukilteo, WA, and George and wife Cara Davis, Louisville, KY. He worked as a comptroller for Weyerhaeuser in Indiana, Washington, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Alaska. His second marriage of ten years was to Lysbeth "Betsy" Graser. When Jim retired they moved to Rochester, Indiana, in 1988. Jim fell in love again and married Kaleen Krom of Rochester, IN on October 23, 2010 and she survives.

Jim was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kiwanis, Alaska Notre Dame Alumni Club, and enjoyed hunting mushrooms, listening to Rush Limbaugh, fishing, nature, reading, traveling, meeting new people and had a strong faith in his country. He was a kind man with a strong character for honesty and integrity. He was loved by many people who knew him.

Surviving besides his wife, and four children are seven grandchildren, Dave and wife Kristy Huffman, Orange County, CA, Jennifer Celentano, Orange County, CA, Chris Grounds, Seattle, WA, Whitney Grounds, Los Angeles, CA, Amber Grounds, Los Angeles, CA, Alex Davis, Louisville, KY, and Oliva Davis., Louisville, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mavis Turnock, and grandson, Jonathan Huffman in 2009.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday February 20, 2011 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana with Dr. Mark Spencer officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Education Scholarship Fund or the Rochester Veteran of Foreign Wars Post. Online condolences may be sent to zimmermanbros@rtcol.com
