Victoria Lynn Taylor (Hayes) - Class Of 1989 VIEW PROFILE

Victoria L. (Taylor) Hayes

July 24, 1971 - July 6, 2012 SOUTH BEND - Victoria Lynn (Taylor) Hayes, 40, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 1:00 AM at IU Methodist Hospital after a brief illness. Victoria was born to the union of Ernell Taylor Jr. (Cincinnati, OH) and Sherri A. (Fleming) Taylor on July 24, 1971, in South Bend, IN. Victoria had lived in South Bend her entire life and was educated in the South Bend Community School Corporation, last attending Riley High School.

Victoria had a very loving and caring spirit, especially for children. She had an infectious and engaging personality, and never met a stranger; she loved people; her home was always open to those in need. Victoria was a vivacious person full of life and laughter. You could not stay in a bad temper or unhappy frame of mind around Vikki (even if she was the source of that mood or temper).

Vikki worked at various jobs in her short life, but her favorite and most rewarding job was when she worked at Growing Kids Academy and was known as "Ms. Vikki" by her class of two-three year olds. "Vikki," as she was affectionately known to those who love her, is survived by six children, Michael J. Taylor, India M., CeNendra L. and Garion D. Hoskin; stepdaughters, Amelia S Hayes and Shoniqwa V. Shannon, who loved her totally, and whom she loved without reserve; and five grandchildren, Michael, Zakhi and Makhiya Taylor, Christopher Black and Ra'Shun Hoskin, all of South Bend, IN. Also surviving are her parents, Emell (Bo) Taylor Jr., formerly of South Bend, and Sherri A. Taylor of South Bend; three brothers, Antoine M. Davis, Emell C. (Rochelle) and Ryan L. (Michelle) Taylor; and two sisters, Erica F. Brazier and Leah Staggers, all of South Bend, IN. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Rebecca A. Harris, and a special uncle, Brian K. Harris, both of South Bend, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who will greatly miss her and forever cherish her memory.

Victoria, while searching for something more in life, was led to receive the Lord Jesus as her Savior while attending Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God In Christ. Vikki became a member and was baptized by Bishop Donald Alford at Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ. She loved the Lord and knew that He loved her, regardless of her trespasses. Victoria attended until her health began to seriously decline.

Victoria was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Emell and Oleatha Taylor Sr.; maternal grandfathers, R.L. Fleming and James C. Harris; and several other family members.

The family would like to thank the Cardiovascular Critical Care Unit staff at IU Methodist Hospital for the unconditional, dedicated and professional care given to our beloved Vikki, and for the patience and kindness given to us. The care given to Vikki was as if she was a member of their family, and we are forever grateful to them.

Visitation for Victoria Lynn Hayes will be on Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Alford's Mortuary and the service will be Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Pentecostal Cathedral COGIC at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary, where messages of condolence may be e-mailed to alfordsmortuary@att.net, c/o: the Victoria Hayes family.
