SOUTH BEND - Mr. Dellahoussaye Edward "Dellie" Johnson departed from this life at 11:55 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012, at Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Johnson, a resident of South Twyckenham Drive, was 65 years of age. Dellie was born on January 9, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Elsie (Smith) Williams and Curtis Charles Johnson.

He graduated from Riley High School and owned Johnson's Meats for several years.

He retired from the Knollwood Country Club as a Fitness Instructor. He was married to his wife of 47 years, Madeline Allen.

Dellie leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Madeline; three children and their spouses, Bryan and Suzanne "Sherri" Johnson, Bradley and Tamicka Johnson of South Bend, IN, and Crystal Johnson Neely and Danny Neely of Indianapolis, IN; his loving mother-in-law, Leona Allen of South Bend, IN; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie and Lenard Taylor of Ozan, AR, Nelda and Henry Clay of South Bend, and Lisa Johnson of Texas; three brothers, Everett Williams Jr. and Robert Williams, both of South Bend, and Andrew and Shirley Williams of Houston, TX; and special aunts and uncles, Etta Johnson of Palos Hills, IL, Bernice Johnson, Lisa Holley, Cheryl and Gregory Wilder, and Garland and Carla Smith, all of South Bend, Diatra and Martin Stearn of Pacoima, CA, and Devon Smith of Ft. Wayne, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie Williams and Curtis Johnson, stepfather, Everett Williams Sr., and a special Dad, Tyler Osler.

Dellie gave unconditional fatherly love to his nieces, nephews and neighborhood children. The love he expressed for all of you had no boundaries. He also had a host of other friends and relatives whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services for Mr. Dellie Johnson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ, with viewing held at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary, where messages of condolence may be e-mailed to alfordsmortuary@att.net, c/o the Johnson family.
