SOUTH BEND - Sandra J. (Smallwood) Jones, 56, of South Bend, Indiana, lovingly known to family members as "Lolly," was called home to rest on Monday, January 5, 2015. She was born in Ansted, West Virginia, to the union of James Sr. and Geneva (Cox) Smallwood; the family relocated to Elkhart, Indiana, when Sandra was 11 years old. Sandra completed her formal education in the South Bend Community School Corporation, graduating from Riley High School in 1976.
In 1985, Sandra was united in holy matrimony to Larry Cornell Jones Sr. in Michigan City, Indiana. She was employed as an Assistant Manager with Quality In Cleaning Services. Her passions included visiting her family, shopping, and cooking.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Larry C. Jones Sr.; daughters, Emma (Dameon) Smith and Mary A. Smallwood; and son, DeCarlos (Carla) Small-wood, all of South Bend, Indiana. Stepchildren: Eric (Lakisha) Clay, Tonya Clay and Iris Strachan. Sisters: Deborah (Tommy) Dye, Mary Smallwood and Emma Smallwood, all of Milwaukee, WI, and Sarah Smallwood of South Bend, Indiana. Sisters-in-Law: Mary (George) Huggins-Roberts, Paulette Jones, Joyce (Willie) Spann, Hortense Jones, all of South Bend, Indiana, Wilhemena (Lee Earl) McLaurin of Pennsylvania and Maxine (John) Simmon of Chicago, IL. Brothers-in-Law: Jimmy (Brenda) Jones of South Bend, Indiana, and Akeem Saawu of Indianapolis, Indiana. Eleven grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; two special friends, Dorothy Fountain and Kim Lottie-Clark; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Those who preceded her in death are her parents, James B. and Geneva (Cox) Smallwood; sons, Larry C. Jones Jr., and David A. Smallwood; sisters, Kay Joyner, Doretta A. Smallwood, Virginia K. Dalton and Geneva N. Smallwood; brothers, Ricky, Dewayne, and Gary Smallwood; sister-in-law, Brenda Jones, and brother-in-laws, Floyd Joyner Sr. and Harry Witt.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015, at Pentecostal Cathedral COGIC, with viewing occurring one hour prior to services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary. www.alfordsmortuaryinc.com
