SOUTH BEND - Mr. Bobby Aaron Mitchell, who resided on Huron Circle, South Bend, Indiana, passed from this life at 4:24 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010, in Memorial Hospital at the age of 60. Bobby's life began on December 12, 1949, in South Bend, when he was born to the union of John Wesley and Velma (Walker) Mitchell.

He received his education in the South Bend schools, graduating from Riley High School.

He was employed for 10 years by National Standard as a custodian. Other employment included 20 years with South Bend Lathe and 10 years running his company, Mitchell's Machinery. Bobby was a work-a-holic who loved to fish, paint and spend time with his family.

Mr. Mitchell has left behind a loving family of one daughter, Jannet Lewis, South Bend, IN; two sons, Bobby Mitchell Jr., Niles, Ml, and Dennis (Barbara) Mitchell, Sioux City, IA; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna (Lee) Scott-Haynes and Pamela (Bruce) Pheifer, both of South Bend, and Wanda Mitchell, Rockford, IL; brothers, Arthur (Tommie) Lax, Kankakee, IL, Frank (Barbara) Lax, Ft. Wayne, IN, Herbert Lax, David Lax, Ronald (Vivian) Lax and Darryl Lax, all of South Bend, Durell (Tawanda) Lax, Woodbridge, VA, Jerry (Carolyn) Lax, Hawaii, and Pee Wee Mitchell, Rockford, IL; sisters-in-law, Doris Lax and Viola Mitchell; an aunt, Inez Douglas; a special friend, Willa Jones; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Family members who preceded him in death along with his parents, Frank and Velma Lax, and paternal father, John Wesley Mitchell Sr., are a sister, Gwendolyn Lax, and brothers, John Wesley Mitchell Jr. and Raymond Lax.

Services for Mr., Mitchell will be held at noon on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, in Emmanuel Community Church, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Viewing will take place in the church from 11:00 a.m. to noon.
