LaDonna F. (Powell) Rehmel

SOUTH BEND - LaDonna F. Rehmel, 90, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday, June 13, in St. Paul's Health Care Center. She previously lived in Granger before living at St. Paul's Retirement Community. LaDonna was born on March 17, 1917, in Coalmont, IN, to the late Charles and Ethel (Holbert) Powell.

She moved to South Bend in 1925 and graduated from Riley High School in 1937.

On June 3, 1939, she married the love of her life, Fred Rehmel Jr. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1974. LaDonna was also preceded in death by her five sisters and a brother.

In 1982 she retired from Burcliff Industries. She had previously belonged to the Clay Democratic Club and VFW Post 360.

LaDonna is survived by her three loving children, Darlene (Erv) DeJarnatt of Three Rivers, Terry (Wilma) Rehmel of Rush, KY, and Deborah (David) Gibson of South Bend; a sister, Betty Scofield of South Bend; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 15, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Rev. LaVerne Easton officiating. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
