SOUTH BEND - Sheila May Thompson, 76, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, in her home. She was born on October 10, 1934, in South Bend, IN, to the late Wilber S. and Ethel May (Dunn) Ridley.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Sandra Cherrone of South Bend, IN; two grandsons, Kevin Cherrone (fiancé Julianne) and Timothy (Heather) Cherrone; eleven great-grandchildren, Monte, Rachelle, Judy, Levi, Alek, Marissa, Lucas, Aaron, Krista, Haleigh and Ethan; one great-great-grandchild, Daniel and a sister-in-law, Sara "Boots" Ridley of South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Kuczmanski; 1st husband, Harry Kuczmanski Jr., and her 2nd husband, Robert Thompson; and three brothers, Nihl, Lavern and Harold Ridley. Mrs.
Thompson was a lifelong area resident. She attended Riley High School.
She worked as a practical nursing hand and as a housekeeper and caregiver for private individuals. She helped out at a beauty salon. In her younger years, she worked for the South Bend Bait Company. She loved dogs, fish, birds, cooking, Elvis shows and her grandchildren. She liked music and enjoyed dancing with her husband, Robert "Bob". In her younger years, she enjoyed living on a farm in South Haven, MI. She was very generous and good hearted and loved life. Mrs. Thompson was baptized a Christian on June 20, 2011. Sheila was known by all as having an unconditional heart with love that has no bounds. With her own special way she touched the hearts of everyone she knew. With no needed words, her love was and always will be felt deeply.
