Lawrence Tracy Pate

Lawrence T. Pate, 89, of 221 Rue Rabelais, died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Pate was a teacher in the South Bend Community School Corp. for 42 years, and was head counselor at Riley High School for 24 years.

He was born June 14, 1897, in Bloomfield, Ind. On Oct. 28, 1933, in South Bend, he married the former Dorothy L. Scott, who survives.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Pate was a graduate of Wabash College, Crawfordsville, Ind., and the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church; local, state and national levels of the National Retired Teachers Association; received a 50 year pin from Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Indiana; and was a member of South Bend Commandry 13.

Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
