Fran (Hillegas) Feiser

August 13, 1938 ~ September 12, 2023 85 Years Old

Fran Feiser, 85, residing in Mishawaka, formerly of South Bend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in her residence in Mishawaka, surrounded by the love and care of her two daughters.

She was born on August 13, 1938, in South Bend, a daughter of the late Ralph D. & Ethel (Heim) Hillegas and has remained a lifelong resident of this community.  She was a graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School.  On September 3, 1955, in South Bend, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Feiser.  They were married for 33 years until his passing on April 15, 1989.  She was also preceded in death by her brother Danny Hillegas.

Fran is survived by her two loving daughters, Denise (Russell) Graves of Mishawaka, and Diane (Faron) Lubbers of South Bend, along with two grandchildren, Erica (Mat) Miller, John (Katharyn) Lubbers, and three great-grandchildren, Emma Joy Lubbers, Everly Jaymes Lubbers, and Hannah Hope Miller, and one on the way in January 2024.  Also surviving are two nieces, Susan Rimar of Dallas, TX; Sandy Proffitt of Sarasota, FL; and a nephew Steven Hillegas, of Stevensville, MI.

Fran retired in 1987 from Your Worship Hour, where she served as Administrator and Secretary to Rev. Quinten J. Everest.  She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in South Bend.  In her earlier years, Fran and her husband were active members of Coalbush Church, Auten Chapel and Hillside Missionary Church.  She also volunteered with the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for 11 years.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Cedarhurst for the wonderful care they gave to Fran.

Family and friends may gather for visitation on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Services celebrating the life of Fran Feiser will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770 Miami Road, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. She will be laid to rest  in a private ceremony beside her beloved husband Bob at Southlawn Cemetery.
