NEW CARLISLE - Sara B. Gondocs, 30, New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 3:16 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born on October 30, 1981, to Rick and Nancy (Rummel) VanVlasselaer in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident.

Sara graduated from Riley High School in 2000.

On July 19, 2003, as Sara B. VanVlasselaer, she married Christopher P. Gondocs in South Bend, IN. She is survived by her loving husband, Chris Gondocs of New Carlisle, IN; her son, Dillon A. Gondocs at home; her mother, Nancy (husband Paul) Boehm of Edwardsburg, MI; her father, Rick (wife, Maribeth Roncz) VanVlasselaer of Granger, IN; a sister, Molly Chupp of Chicago, IL; maternal grandmother, Lorraine Rummel of New Carlisle, IN; paternal grandparents, Al and Mary VanVlasselaer; mother-in-law, Tina L. Alcantar of South Bend, IN; father-in-law, Robert P. Gondocs of South Bend, IN; five cousins, Scott, Nick and Todd Machowiak, Grant and Kate Rummel, and Grant's daughter, Harper Rummel; uncle, Fred Rummel, and two aunts, Nancy Rummel and Kathie Rummel; and two nephews, Brady and Noah Chupp.

Sara was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Damien L. Gondocs; two grandpas, Joe Gondocs and Paul Rummel; an aunt, Barb Machowiak; and an uncle, John Rummel.

Sara was a loving wife and mother. Chris and Dillon meant the world to her. And she loved animals, especially her two pugs, Tigger and Bruno. Sara continued to work hard to recover from her 2 1/2-year battle with Guillian-Barre Syndrome and all of its effects. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. today, December 18, 2011, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, December 18, 2011, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Pastor Mark Waltz officiating.
