November 27, 1949 ~ June 16, 2023 73 Years Old
Monica L. Dews, 73 years old, passed away on Friday afternoon, June 16, 2023 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family. Monica was born on November 27, 1949 in South Bend to the late Joseph A. and Gertrude (Hufford) Andries. She has remained a lifelong resident of South Bend.
Monica is survived by her four children, Amy (Robert) Marquez of South Bend and their children, Gage and Tyler Hix; Kevin P. (Jennifer) Dews of Elkhart and their children, Kevin Jr., Joseph, Cameron and Kassie Dews; Antonia (Stephen) Betz of South Bend and their children, Colleen and Gabrielle Paul and Mara Betz; and A. Cristina Zarate of South Bend. Monica is also survived by her great granddaughter, Izzie-Lou. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph C. Andries.
Monica was a hairdresser with Beauteria Beauty Shop for many years, a former waitress at Hans House, South Bend and retired from Heraeus Kulzer in 2003. Monica was a 1968 graduate of Riley High School.
She had a spitfire personality with an opinionated mind, loved British television shows, and William Powell. But as the natural caregiver she was, most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply and irrevocably missed.
