Patricia Buirse

Patricia D. Buirse

June 27, 1949 - May 14, 2012
SOUTH BEND - Patricia Diann Buirse, 62, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, crossed over into eternal rest on Monday, May 14, 2012. Pat was born on June 27, 1949, to the union of her now-deceased parents, James Willie Buirse and Evelyn (Calvin) Buirse in Oakland, California.

She was a graduate of Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana.

Upon graduation Pat moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she resided for 43 years. Pat worked at the YWCA of Greater Milwaukee over 20 years as a program assistant and child care teacher. She helped many children and parents develop and grow. She was presently employed by Ser Jobs for Progress, a program that hires seniors to be trained at agencies to provide community service; she worked at the YWCA Transitional Housing Program as a program assistant until her passing. There she touched many lives of the children during childcare sessions; parents, as a friend and counselor as well as developed friendships and personal relationships with the staff.

She attended worship services at Bethel C.M.E Church where Elder Willie F. Dockery Sr. is the pastor. Her spiritual growth developed over the last three years while there. She was always willing to be a servant as kitchen help during dinner programs and events. She attended church, Sunday School, Women's Ministry, programs at other churches, and traveled with the church to fellowship with other congregations. She also loved music, especially the church choir and quartet singing. She did not like missing out on sharing with the faithful. Pat enjoyed life to the fullest. She would say "we are going to have some fun today" when headed to a spiritual or Mary Kay Breakfast. She enjoyed people and people loved her. There are so many friends in Milwaukee who will miss her dearly. She loved to take good care of herself. This was clear in the clothing and jewelry she wore: Mary Kay skin care and makeup that she loved, and an active lifestyle in general. She was ready to go whenever there was fun to be had. Pat is already greatly missed by all who knew her to be nice, kind, sweet and loveable.

To cherish her precious memory and mourn her passing, Pat leaves a host of family and friends including seven brothers, Jim (Barbara) Buirse of Battle Creek, Michigan, Frank Buirse and Antonio Buirse, both of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lawrence (Chemise) Buirse of Texas, Chris (Lisa) Buirse and Curtis (Shirley) Buirse, both of Phoenix, Arizona, Michael Buirse of Indianapolis, Indiana; three sisters, Sharron (George) Adams of South Bend, Indiana, Glenn Buirse and Beverly (Jimmy) Snell, both of Little Rock, Arkansas; a stepsister, Nelda Stewart; along with a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Patricia was also preceded in death by one brother, James Anthony Buirse; one sister, Doris Ann Buirse; and a special life companion who preceded her in death, Lomac Boyd. Pat was so well-loved in the community of Milwaukee and by the congregation of Bethel C.M.E. Church, where she was actively involved in women's fellowship, Sunday School, working on the Kitchen Committee and participating in church outings, that a separate memorial celebration is also being planned there for well-wishers who cannot attend Patricia's

HomeGoing Celebration in South Bend, Indiana. The Home-Going Celebration for Patricia Diann Buirse will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home Inc., 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and services at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visit www.clarkoneal.com to sign her guestbook.
